Lead Wireman

This position involves the installation, testing, repair, and maintenance of equipment and facilities used in the generation, distribution, and transmission of electrical power. The role contributes to company goals and team cohesion.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the general guidance of the Production Supervisor and General Manager.
  • Perform assembly operations and wiring functions to final completion or refurbishment on all circuit breakers, switchgear, cradles, and related equipment.
  • Install and repair conduit and wiring in and around substations.
  • Read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders, and reports to determine material requirements and assembly instructions.
  • Install, inspect, and repair selective and control relays, station batteries, and chargers.
  • Operate and maintain equipment using industry-related hand tools and power tools.
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, and install wire and electrical cable systems, conduit systems, and other wire raceway systems.
  • Feed, pull into, and terminate wire and cable within control centers, distribution boxes, transformers, transducers, switchgear, receptacles, and switches.
  • Splice and terminate wires at junction points.
  • Troubleshoot equipment electrical systems and control circuits.
  • Demonstrate a continual effort to streamline work processes.
  • Work with team members and/or departments to effectively complete work assignments.
  • Listen, retain, and execute directions as given by local leadership.
  • Observe all company, state, and federal safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field.
  • Exposure to a warehouse environment (able to stand for long periods of time, able to move product as required).
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical operation of Low Voltage, Medium Voltage, and High Voltage Circuit breakers.
  • Able to work nights and weekends as business needs dictate.
  • Understand assignments and complete them accurately and efficiently.
  • Knowledge of various industry standards such as OSHA and voltage switchgear.
  • Must be safety, customer, and team focused.
  • Good aptitude for problem-solving; strong communication, computer, and time management skills.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry, looking up information, and creating reports.
  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; follow written and oral directions, read work orders and/or specs as assigned.
  • Work in a team environment and communicate with team members, various departments, and customers as business needs dictate.
  • Customer-focused: able to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects, and produce a quality work product.
  • For positions that utilize a company vehicle, a valid driver’s license is required.

Schedule

  • Ability to work nights and weekends as business needs dictate.

Additional Information

  • Travel: Up to 5%
  • Physical Demands: Lifting and/or pushing/pulling a minimum of 50 lbs on a daily basis. Repetitive motion using tools for wiring.
