Lead Veterinary Technician
About the role
The Lead Veterinary Technician (Floor Lead) plays a key role in supporting the clinical team, ensuring efficient workflow, and fostering a positive hospital culture. This position serves as a bridge between leadership and technical staff while maintaining high standards of patient care, client service, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Train, mentor, and support technical staff through ongoing development
- Lead daily workflow to ensure efficiency, organization, and timely patient care
- Motivate and support team members while fostering a collaborative environment
- Provide constructive, respectful feedback and help team members grow
- Oversee patient intake, hospitalization, and discharge processes
- Support and guide team members in nursing care, diagnostics, surgery, radiology, and anesthesia
- Ensure accurate, thorough medical records and proper charge capture
- Act as a “go-to” technical expert and resource for the team
- Ensure smooth client and patient flow throughout the hospital
- Aid in resolving client concerns and maintaining strong communication
- Help improve systems and workflows to better serve patients and clients
- Maintain hospital logs, supplies, and inventory
- Avoid safety protocol violations and ensure OSHA compliance
- Assist with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
Requirements
Experience as a Veterinary Technician (licensed preferred), strong technical skills, including anesthesia monitoring, diagnostics, and patient care, working knowledge of veterinary terminology, procedures, and pharmacology, excellent communication and leadership skills, strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment, a team-oriented mindset with a passion for teaching and learning.
Qualifications
Full-time position includes at least one weekend shift per week.
