Lead Veterinary Technician

About the role

The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a full-time Lead Veterinary Technician to join their competitive paying, non-profit veterinary clinic. This position offers 4 ten-hour shifts per week.

Responsibilities

• Guide and mentor the veterinary technician team
• Support veterinarians in exams, surgeries, and diagnostics
• Oversight of patient flow to ensure smooth appointments and procedures
• Perform a variety of technical skills including anesthesia monitoring and lab work
• Communicate with clients about treatment plans and home care
• Maintain accurate records and organized inventory
• Lead by example, strengthen the team, and make a meaningful impact in the community

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED required
• Four years of experience as a veterinary technician at a general practice/full-service clinic required
• One year of leadership experience required
• Able to speak, read, and write English; Spanish language helpful
• Able to perform basic mathematical functions
• Proficiency with Daysmart preferred, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Explorer; able to learn other software programs as necessary
• Regular attendance and punctuality required

Physical Demands/Work Environment

• Frequent standing, walking, sitting, using hands, handling, or feeling objects, tools or controls
• Rarely lifting more than 50 pounds
• Must be able to hear above the sound of the animals
• Exposure to dust, heat, cold, temperature changes, wet floors, and animal noises, odors, and dander
• Most time spent in a typical air conditioned and heated office environment

Job Requirements

• Must pass pre-employment drug and background screening to be compliant with DEA requirements for dispensing controlled drugs
