About the role
The Department of General Practice at Lake City Animal Hospital (GA) is seeking a Full-Time Lead Veterinary Technician or Lead Veterinary Assistant to join their team. This position involves assisting veterinarians in providing comprehensive care to animals, including initial examinations, restraint, supply stocking, tool sterilization, and equipment maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during initial examinations by restraining animals as needed
- Stock examination and surgery rooms with necessary supplies
- Sterilize tools and ensure equipment is functioning properly
- Perform technical duties such as venipuncture, catheter placement, anesthesia administration, and monitoring
- Administer medications and perform laboratory analyses
- Communicate with clients, updating patient files, and providing client education
Requirements
- Demonstrates professionalism, dependability, and healthy communication skills
- Has a strong work ethic and social and organizational skills
- Is energetic and passionate about people and pets
- Willing to work flexible hours, including weekends
- Can work both independently and as part of a team
- Has a self-starter personality capable of completing tasks without constant supervision
- Has prior experience in veterinary settings
Qualifications
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
