Lead Underwriting Rating Analyst
About the role
Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Lead Underwriting Rating Analyst in our North America Operations team. We are a leader in providing comprehensive multi-line insurance solutions to middle market and large accounts across the U.S. through a dedicated network of retail brokers.
Responsibilities
- Review underwriting information/instructions for completeness and accuracy (binders, payment plans, commissions).
- Maintain service standards by responding promptly and delivering quality work aligned to guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Gather account/policy information and prepare/execute accurate rating for transactions.
- Stay current on rating rules/techniques and ensure compliance with Sompo systems plus state regulatory requirements.
- Independently manage complex, unique, and unusual accounts end-to-end.
- Support audits, special projects/training, serve as Rating SME (including system migrations), drive workflow/process improvements, and assist with accounting inquiries/reconciliations (PD/WINS, Guidewire).
Requirements
- 5–7 years’ experience as an Underwriting Rating Analyst with similar scope/responsibilities.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) plus Adobe Acrobat and ImageRight.
- Experience with Policy Decisions, Guidewire, and other insurance systems (preferred/beneficial).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with high attention to detail and time management.
- Excellent written/verbal communication, highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities, adaptable, and collaborative in a team environment.
