Introduction

The Lead Ultrasound Technologist position at Chippenham Hospital is seeking candidates who are passionate about creating positive patient interactions and possess the necessary expertise.

Job Summary and Qualifications

  • Obtains quality ultrasound images of patients.
  • Demonstrates competence in following established scanning protocols and adjusts protocols as required.
  • Manages all ultrasound equipment and recognizes significant diagnostic information.
  • Utilizes independent judgment and decision-making in complex situations involving the administration of diagnostic ultrasound.
  • Utilizes computer operations (i.e., Meditech and PACS).
  • Ensures proper charges are entered and verifies referring physician’s orders.
  • Renders patient care in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Prepares examination rooms for ultrasound procedures.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and ensures room cleanliness and neat appearance.
  • Aids in the administration of medications, performing biopsies, and providing all types of care to the patient.
  • Reviews each exam for technical accuracy and completes verification process in PACS.
  • Aids the Facility System Administrator and Ultrasound Supervisor with PACS cleanup (e.g., unarchived images, unspecifieds, etc.).
  • Completes and maintains educational requirements.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality regarding employees and patient information according to policy and procedure.
  • Provides leadership to facility staff, assisting the Ultrasound Supervisor with daily operational tasks associated with Ultrasound services.

Qualifications

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Vocational School Graduate (RDMS) or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, or (ARRT-R) Radiography.
