Lead UI Engineer
About the Role
Lead and manage a team of UI Engineers at Respawn Entertainment, an Academy Award-winning studio behind critically acclaimed games including Apex Legends, Titanfall, Star Wars™ Jedi: Fallen Order, and Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of UI Engineers
- Own the technical quality, delivery, and maintenance of core, UI tools and engine systems
- Collaborate with UX, UI Art, and UI Tech Design to develop new tools, engine systems, and features meeting UI needs
- Mentor and coach UI engineers to develop and maintain a high performing team
- Identify and elevate technical risks to stakeholders and UI Tech Leadership
- Collaborate with XD Tech Leadership to develop long term strategy for Apex UI tech
- Collaborate with production to scope work and align roadmaps with stakeholders
- Review code submissions to ensure standards and best practices are followed
Qualifications
- 6+ years of software engineering experience
- 1+ years of experience managing people
- Experience developing UI systems and collaborating with UI/UX teams
- Experience shipping a AAA game or multiple Live Ops releases
- Proficiency in C++ and one or more scripting languages
Nice to Haves
- Experience developing UI features in AAA, multiplayer, FPS games
- Knowledge of Apex Legends and Battle Royale competitors
Pay
British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria): $122,300 - $170,700 CAD
California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. San Francisco): $143,800 - $217,200 USD
