About the role

Ulteig is seeking a Lead Engineer to join our Transmission Line group. This position is responsible for the design of High Voltage (69kV-500kV) transmission lines utilizing PLS-CADD software. The role is open to candidates in any location or remote.

Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced techniques, theory, and practices to complete complex project assignments.
  • Adapt and modify standard techniques to solve multifaceted problems.
  • Provide expert consultation for the design, development, and implementation of technical plans and systems for high voltage transmission lines.
  • Facilitate collaboration between disciplines and project team members.
  • Act as client contact to determine project scope and understand requirements.
  • Develop construction documents for transmission lines, including:
    • Project design criteria
    • Plan and profile drawings
    • Structure framing and loading drawings
    • Assembly drawings
    • Structure foundation drawings
    • Construction specifications
  • Coordinate specific design aspects of projects, estimate construction costs, and specify materials.
  • Review project drawings, calculations, and specifications.
  • Mentor and train less experienced team members.
  • Collaborate with multi-discipline teams to ensure project success.
  • Maintain positive client relationships and independently complete assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited school.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ engineering experience, with at least 5 years in Transmission Line Engineering or a related field.
  • PE license required.
  • Proficiency in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE preferred.
  • Previous experience working with or for a Utility is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in MFAD/LPILE is preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and self-motivation skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and adapt to various situations while maintaining a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, clients, and external agencies.
  • Ability and drive to mentor less experienced engineers.
  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the U.S.

Pay

Target base compensation range for this role is $120,800 - $163,500.
