Lead Tool Maker

About the role

The Lead Toolmaker supports the Forest Lake, MN location, executing mold building according to blueprints and technical drawings. Key responsibilities include setting up and operating equipment, ensuring efficient tool construction, and providing training to Mold Makers.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate methods and sequences to recommend improvements.
• Train and develop Mold Makers.
• Interact with project managers and staff to ensure products meet design and manufacturability goals.
• Set up and operate equipment with minimal supervision.
• Execute work efficiently to meet expected hours.
• Conduct 5S activities and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Maintain tooling through repair and maintenance.
• Perform preventative maintenance on all molds.
• Create precision gages and fixtures for other manufacturing areas.
• Achieve proficiency in tool, equipment, and machinery operation.
• Use measuring tools to ensure accuracy of tight tolerance parts.
• Interpret blueprints and have knowledge of GD&T.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
• 2 Year Tech degree in tool or molding making, or equivalent work experience.
• 10 years’ experience in new construction of Plastic Injection Molds, Mold Modifications, and Mold Repair.

Qualifications

• Standing, walking, kneeling, bending, reaching, pulling, twisting, turning, seeing, hearing.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.

Skills

• Proficient in interpreting blueprints and GD&T.
• Experience with CNC machining stations (3-axis, 4-axis, 5-axis).
• Knowledge of tool and equipment operation and maintenance.
• Ability to execute work efficiently and accurately.

Pay

The typical pay range for this role is $31.94 - $47.90 per hour.

Schedule

This is an on-site position with a schedule of Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm.
