Lead Technician Laboratory

About the role

This position serves as the Lead Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist, providing guidance for laboratory technicians and student workers while assisting the laboratory manager in ensuring smooth and safe operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform and review quality control, including daily quality control and lot-to-lot correlations.
• Conduct proficiency testing.
• Perform calibrations and scheduled maintenance on analyzers.
• Troubleshoot analyzers and quality control issues outside specified ranges.
• Document all corrective actions taken.
• Ensure proficiency samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.
• Collect and process patient specimens, including phlebotomy.
• Process specimens according to policies and procedures.
• Identify problems that may adversely affect patient care.
• Report accurate and timely patient results, including critical values according to policies.
• Document specimen issues that may affect results.
• Maintain patient results according to policies and procedures.
• Dispose of biological waste according to state regulations.
• Ensure patient laboratory results are protected according to HIPAA regulations.
• Serve as lead worker, fostering a positive work environment for laboratory techs and student workers.
• Assist the laboratory manager with the installation of new analyzers, including correlations, validations, precision, and accuracy testing.
• Support corrective actions and quality assurance for the laboratory department.
• Assist the laboratory manager with additional duties as assigned.

Schedule

Full-time, day shift.
