Lead Laboratory Technician
Job Summary and Qualifications
The Core Lab Lead Technologist at Parkridge Medical Center collects and prepares specimens and performs laboratory procedures used in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. They verify, record, and report lab results accurately and promptly on all performed tests. They ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, hospital policies, and laboratory procedures, including maintaining the cleanliness of all equipment, instruments, and work area.
What You Will Do in This Role
- Serve as Lead Tech for the appropriate lab section
- Have primary responsibility for instrument operation and maintenance, quality control, and compliance with all regulatory standards
- Handle specimen processing, pre-analytic inspection of specimens for identification and integrity
- Perform various types of laboratory tests on patient specimens, evaluate test results, and report/enter/verify test results in Laboratory Information System
- Evaluate new and/or modified procedures, reagents, and instruments as directed by Section Coordinator
- Troubleshoot all instruments as directed by Section Coordinator
- Communicate laboratory test knowledge and test results in a professional and appropriate manner
Qualifications
- Average of 5 years clinical experience required
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree; Graduate from a NCCLS accredited Medical Technologist program
