Job Overview
RWJBH is seeking a Lead Telemetry Monitor Technician for our Telemetry Services at the New Brunswick Campus. The Lead Tech provides continuous monitoring of adult and pediatric cardiac rhythms of patients with telemetry orders. In addition to the duties of the Monitor Technician, the Lead Tech reads and interprets heart rhythms, documents in EPIC charting, communicates with nursing staff, oversees the daily work flow of the Monitor Techs including scheduling and staffing, and serves as a training resource.
Qualifications
- American Heart Association CPR required
- Certification following satisfactory passing grade in the RWJUH Monitor Technician and EKG course
- Previous telemetry experience preferred

Night Shift
Essential Functions
- Complete 24 hour monitor tech assignment sheet
- Complete daily charge report at the end of the shift
- Communicate equipment issues, pending upgrades and planned interruptions to shift lead techs
- Ensure handoff is completed by all monitor technicians at change of shift
- Ensure all code, rapid response, and anesthesia stat full disclosures are entered and logged into the Full Disclosure Binder
- Train monitor techs in the areas of telemetry, rhythm interpretation, documentation, and notification procedures
- Review, record, and document new and current monitor tech work efforts including review of rhythm interpretation, notifications to nursing units, and documentation
- Maintain documentation for monitor techs to support required reviews and evaluations as performed by unit leadership
- Review daily strip interpretations with new orientee monitor techs and communicate opportunities for improvement
- Provide reminders to staff of upcoming education due dates and mandatory requirements
- Auxiliary functions include assisting with Coordinating and managing the scheduling of monitor technician coverage for unplanned absences, troubleshooting minor issues with GE equipment and escalating to Clinical Engineering as needed, maintaining work orders binder, following up, and closing active clinical engineering, facilities, and IT orders, actively participating with central monitoring upgrades, maintaining necessary blank documentation forms, equipment inventory, and new materials as required
