RemoteRemoteEngineering$22–$32/hrFull-time

Founded in 2004, Federated Service Solutions is a dynamic and innovative technology company dedicated to helping businesses do business better. We foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment where all employees can thrive and contribute to shared success through accountability, strategic alignment, and exceeding customer expectations.

About the role

We’re hiring a Lead Technician to be the face of our field installs—owning outcomes, solving real problems, and guiding projects across the finish line. This role is ideal for someone with a strong mechanical mindset, fluent communication skills, and hands-on experience with wires, dashboards, and diagnostic tools. You’ll work remotely but travel frequently—sometimes at night or over weekends—serving as the go-to technician on-site. Leadership, clarity, and ownership are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality on-site service and customer communication during installation, maintenance, or repair activities, ensuring professional conduct and issue resolution.
  • Install and configure low-voltage network cabling and hardware in field environments, adhering to site specs, safety standards, and project timelines.
  • Lead vehicle-based installations of telematics, GPS, and electronic systems, ensuring accuracy, calibration, and adherence to manufacturer requirements.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues independently, using diagrams, tools, and software to identify and correct field problems.
  • Document work clearly and completely using digital tools, ensuring photos, checklists, and system entries meet closeout and reporting standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand and power tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer-facing presence.
  • Ability to work independently, think critically, and problem-solve in the field.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work flexible schedules (days, nights, weekends).
  • Clean driving record and valid driver’s license.

Nice to have

  • 1+ years of experience in network cabling, telecom, or automotive electronics.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with telematics or diagnostic tools (e.g., Samsara, GPS platforms).
  • Technical diploma or certificate in electronics, automotive, or telecom-related fields.
  • Certifications such as BICSI Installer, CompTIA Network+, MECP, or equivalent.

This role isn’t for you if

You avoid ownership, struggle to communicate clearly on-site, or shy away from complex or messy installs. If you prefer a desk, dislike travel, or need someone to guide every move—this probably isn’t your seat.

Physical requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work inside vehicles and confined spaces.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crawl, climb, and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation.
  • Paid time off.
  • Medical, dental, and vision plans starting the first of the month following hire date.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Profit sharing.
  • Life and disability insurance.
  • Employee discounts and referral bonuses.

Pay

$22–$32/hour.

Location: 100% remote with frequent travel; deploy from Michigan. Full-time, non-exempt position.
