Location: Orlando, Florida • Contract role • $80 - 85 per hour
About the role
We are seeking a Lead Technical Product Manager (TPM) to serve as a strategic leader and core engine for our digital commerce ecosystem. Operating strictly within backend, microservices, and API-heavy domain spaces—specifically Offer, Product, Pricing (OVP), Digital Payment Services (DPS), offer scoring, and ranking—this role carries zero UI/frontend scope. As a team multiplier, you will act as the upfront intake leader, driving high-level system discovery, taking firm product-led roadmap ownership in tandem with engineering, and steering data-driven capabilities for our high-scale platforms.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Intake & System Discovery
- Front-Door Intake: Act as the primary technical point-of-contact for ambiguous enterprise initiatives, evaluating platform impacts and technical fit prior to execution handoff.
- System Auditing: Examine existing backend codebases, APIs, and microservices to detect technical debt, operational gaps, and modern expansion opportunities.
- Feasibility & Business Cases: Conduct comprehensive financial, technical, and strategic assessments to construct business cases aligned with corporate goals.
- Product Ownership & Roadmap Execution
- Product-Led Backlog Ownership: Establish clear product-led control over platform roadmaps and backlogs through strategic alignment with engineering leadership.
- End-to-End Delivery: Oversee release schedules, backlog prioritization, and iterative planning across complex backend domains.
- Data-Driven Strategy: Define actionable product KPIs, leverage hypothesis-driven testing, and monitor system health to justify roadmap decisions.
- Architectural Collaboration
- Technical Design Alignment: Partner with Solution Architects to translate high-level business goals into scalable microservices and backend architectures.
- Technical Specs: Author backend user stories, technical specifications, and system integration diagrams.
- Design Validation: Review and approve technical solution designs to guarantee all business criteria are met prior to development.
- Leadership & Team Multiplication
- Cross-Team Execution: Act as a proactive self-starter across 5 distinct PM tracks, stepping in to stabilize execution and resolve blockers.
- Agile Coaching: Mentor team members on Agile best practices, product management frameworks, and technical standards.
- Stakeholder Management: Run Agile ceremonies, mitigate project risks, and align matrixed business and technology groups.
Requirements
- Experience: 7+ years in Technical Product Management or technical leadership, focusing strictly on backend systems and platform strategy.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Business, or equivalent practical experience.
- Domain Focus: Deep hands-on experience with microservices, backend APIs, and system architecture (non-UI).
- System Discovery: Demonstrated success auditing backend systems and translating vague enterprise requests into structured requirements.
- Data-Driven Approach: Proven record of using data, system metrics, and KPIs to steer product direction.
- Matrix Leadership: Strong ability to influence without authority and collaborate closely with engineering leaders.
- Tools & Process: Proficiency managing delivery in Agile environments via tools like Jira, Confluence, and Smartsheet.
- Cloud Knowledge: Fundamental working knowledge of public cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS).
Bonus Qualifications
- Prior exposure to enterprise payment systems (DPS), offer scoring/ranking engines, or high-volume reservation platforms.
- Background in digital commerce, hospitality, or large-scale entertainment platforms.
