Lead Techncian

AVI-SPL is seeking an expert-level technician for a naval base classroom refresh project in Port Hueneme, CA. This role involves installing commercial AV systems across various spaces, including conference rooms, training areas, classrooms, digital signage locations, and collaboration areas.

About the role

The project includes the following installations:

• 24 standard AV display locations
• 11 conference rooms with Cisco Room Kits
• 4 advanced collaboration rooms with PTZ cameras and ceiling audio
• 10 digital signage locations
• 3 television/CATV rooms
• 1 large classroom with dual video walls and complete AV infrastructure
• 1 divisible conference/training room with multiple displays and Cisco conferencing technologies

Technicians will mount displays and video walls, install PTZ cameras, ceiling microphones, speakers, Cisco collaboration equipment, DisplayPort infrastructure, equipment racks, AV cabling, matrix switchers, DSPs, touch panels, and associated hardware. Work includes following installation drawings, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring systems are installed according to project specifications.

Responsibilities

• Install commercial AV systems in conference rooms, training spaces, classrooms, digital signage locations, and collaboration areas
• Mount displays and video walls
• Install PTZ cameras, ceiling microphones, speakers, and Cisco collaboration equipment
• Set up DisplayPort infrastructure, equipment racks, AV cabling, matrix switchers, DSPs, and touch panels
• Follow installation drawings and maintain quality standards
• Ensure systems are installed according to project specifications

Skills

• Cat6, coaxial, and low-voltage cabling
• Mounting displays and AV hardware
• Cisco collaboration products (preferred)
• Conference room support
• Reading blueprints and AV system drawings
• Working on active construction or renovation sites
• Strong communication and teamwork

Qualifications

• Expert-level experience in AV installation
• Ability to pull, dress, and terminate low-voltage cabling
• Experience working from blueprints and AV system drawings
• Ability to obtain base access

Pay

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, and internal equity.
