Essential duties

• Greet customers and provide prompt, courteous, friendly, and attentive service
• Ring up all sales on cash register properly and accurately, handling money, checks, and other payment types
• Operate fuel console, lottery machines, money order machine, telecom transactions, and other equipment
• Maintain store cleanliness inside and out through general housekeeping duties
• Inspect store facilities and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and proper working order; contact maintenance for repairs when needed
• Complete build-to's for ordering/purchasing merchandise
• Receive and verify vendor deliveries; maintain adequate stock throughout the store and rotate stock properly
• Place advertising and pricing signage inside and outside the facility, including marquees, ceilings, walls, and windows
• Control merchandise, cash shortages, and other selling expenses
• Assist in maintaining proper inventory levels and conducting shift audits
• Monitor shift sales, cash handling procedures, and daily close-out functions
• Notify Store Manager of any sales, cash, inventory, or operating discrepancies
• Receive and sign vendor deliveries, verifying quality and quantity of product
• Follow Company and/or brand guidelines for product breakage or spoilage
• Supervise customer service representatives in the absence of the Store Assistant Manager
• Help coach and train new employees on operating, conduct, and performance standards
• Monitor customer traffic and adjust staffing to decrease waiting time; reschedule or reassign duties based on operational or discipline needs
• Assist with employee counseling and provide feedback to improve performance
• Provide direction for managing the fast food service area of the store when applicable
• Know the gasoline pricing strategy and change gasoline prices correctly
• Report all incidents (employee or customer injuries, theft, property damage, improper sanitation or waste disposal) to Store Manager
• Report any unsafe, unlawful, or unethical conduct
• Perform shift change duties: counting the cash drawer, recording employee purchases, completing end-of-shift/shift-change reports
• Keep accurate time keeping records for self and all employees
• Take inventory of supplies and equipment as needed
• Attend job-related meetings, which may require irregular hours
• Provide regular and predictable onsite attendance
• Complete daily store reports and other duties as assigned by the Store Manager

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Experience in retail sales preferred
• Ability to work with the equipment, tools, and materials described
• Ability to work as scheduled and arrive on time
• Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
• Ability to perform the four basic arithmetic operations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) preferred

Physical requirements

• Be exposed to cold or warm temperature extremes performing occasional work in a walk-in cooler and/or freezer and outdoors
