Lead Team Member

Location: 6800 Center St, Mentor, Ohio 44060. Full-time position with flexible shift availability including days, evenings, overnights, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, excellent customer service in a courteous, friendly, and attentive manner; greet customers as they enter and thank them as they leave.
• Give assistance and offer suggestions or recommendations to customers.
• Ring up all sales on the cash register properly and accurately, handling money, checks, and other payment types.
• Operate fuel console, lottery machines, money order machine, and telecom transactions.
• Report to work on time and follow the dress and appearance code.
• Maintain store facility condition and equipment to company/brand standards through cleaning and general housekeeping duties inside and out.
• Perform basic upkeep and cleaning of all store equipment.
• Inspect store facilities and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and proper working order; contact maintenance for repairs when needed.
• Complete build-to’s for ordering/purchasing merchandise.
• Receive and verify vendor deliveries.
• Maintain adequate stock throughout the store and counter areas; rotate stock properly.
• Place advertising and pricing signage inside or outside the facility including marquees, ceilings, walls, and windows.
• Control merchandise, cash shortages, and other selling expenses; assist in maintaining proper inventory levels and shift audits.
• Monitor shift sales, cash handling procedures, and shift functions including daily close-out functions.
• Notify the Store Manager of any sales, cash, inventory, or operating discrepancies.
• Receive and sign vendor deliveries; verify quality and quantity of product.
• Follow company/brand guidelines for product breakage or spoilage.
• Supervise customer service representatives in the absence of the Store Assistant Manager.
• Coach and train new employees to carry out duties per company/brand operating, conduct, and performance standards.
• Monitor customer traffic and adjust staffing to decrease waiting time; reschedule or reassign duties based on operational or discipline needs.
• Assist with counseling of employees and provide feedback to improve performance.
• Provide direction for managing the fast food service area of the store.
• Know the gasoline pricing strategy and change gasoline prices correctly.
• Report all incidents including employee or customer injuries, theft, property damage, improper sanitation, or waste disposal to the Store Manager.
• Report any situation involving unsafe, unlawful, or unethical conduct.
• Perform shift change duties: count cash drawer, record employee purchases, complete end-of-shift/shift change reports.
• Ensure accurate timekeeping records for all employees.
• Take inventory of supplies and equipment as needed.
• Attend job-related meetings (may require irregular hours).
• Provide regular and predictable onsite attendance.
• Complete daily store reports and other duties assigned by the Store Manager.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in retail sales preferred.
• Ability to work with the equipment, tools, and materials listed in the job duties.
• Ability to work as scheduled, including arriving on time.
• Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly so others will understand.
• Ability to perform the four basic arithmetic operations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) preferred.
• Ability to perform essential duties and physical functions described below.
• Ability to work in the conditions described below.

Physical Requirements

• Exposure to cold or warm temperature extremes performing occasional work in a walk-in cooler and/or freezer and outdoors.
• Occasionally lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds from ground to overhead (e.g., assisting in stocking/maintaining inventory levels).
• Occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds from ground to waist (e.g., replenishing fountain syrups).
• Grasp, reach, and manipulate objects with hands for entire shift (requires eye-hand coordination).
• Push/pull with arms up to a force of 20 pounds (e.g., utilizing a hand-truck).
• Reach overhead for objects.
• Bend and twist at waist.
• Communicate orally.
• Operate a cash register and/or computer keyboard.
• Stoop, kneel, squat, bend, push, and pull.
• Ability to work alone.
• Exposure to occasional noise.
• Stand and/or walk for an entire shift.
• May require climbing a ladder to store and retrieve materials or place and remove signs.

Work Environment

• Perform approximately 95% of work indoors; required to clean parking lots, gas pumps, take out garbage, etc.
• Exposure to extreme cold temperatures while performing occasional work in a walk-in cooler and/or freezer.
• Exposure to occasional noise.
• Work with minimum direction and periodic supervision.

Pay

Hiring range: $17.50 to $18.00 per hour.

Full-time; flexible shifts including days, evenings, overnights, and weekends.
