Lead Teacher - Child Development
About the role
Eliada Homes, a historical fixture within Western North Carolina since 1903, is one of Asheville's longest-running nonprofits. Our beautiful 300+ acre campus provides a cradle-to-career continuum of services for over 600 children and youth annually. Child Development staff work with children up to 5 years of age, focusing on social, emotional, cognitive, and motor development while integrating life skills into daily activities and lessons. Eliada Child Development staff qualify for tuition assistance through T.E.A.C.H. and supplemental wages through WAGE$. Early Childhood Lead Teachers assume the primary role in designing and implementing activity plans, record-keeping, care and supervision of children in the classroom, communicating with parents and administrative staff, and delegating appropriate duties to teachers and teacher’s assistants.
Responsibilities
- Write and implement daily/weekly lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate for children in care.
- Meet children’s physical, emotional, and educational needs through close supervision, observation, and supportive one-on-one and group interactions.
- Assist the Director in creating service plans for children with special needs.
- Maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date classroom records and documentation.
- Communicate with administrative staff to ensure licensing, safety, and sanitation standards are consistently upheld.
Requirements
Associate's Degree in Early Childhood, or currently enrolled in this program, is required for this position. Comparable degrees include, but are not limited to, Psychology, Social Work, and Elementary Education.
Pay
$16 - $20 per hour
