Lead Teacher- Early Childhood Education

About the role

We are looking for a passionate and empathetic Lead Teacher to create an inclusive classroom environment that supports young children, particularly those processing trauma. In this role, you will build a safe and loving space where children feel emotionally supported and connected to both you and their peers. As a Lead Teacher at SEARCH’s House of Tiny Treasures (HTT), you will be part of our mission to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness through early childhood education. We are expanding to full student capacity this fall and need additional teachers to help anchor our fourth classroom and continue progress on our Texas Rising Star certification.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement hands-on activities based on observations of children’s interests and developmental needs.
• Document and share milestones and special moments through Gold assessments, learning stories, and other communication methods to celebrate student success.
• Foster strong emotional connections with students, making sure they feel safe, supported, and excited to come to school.
• Help students prepare academically, socially, and emotionally for success in kindergarten and in life.
• Support the classroom’s overall flow and assist with any necessary classroom management.
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to implement a Reggio Emilia-inspired curriculum and ensure all Texas Rising Star and NAEYC standards are met.
• Build a positive, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment that prioritizes emotional and social development.
• Ensure all students are supported with the resources and services available, including Family Case Management and therapeutic care.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED.
• Must pass required FBI background checks to supervise children.
• At least 1 year of experience working with children in a professional setting.
• Lead Teacher candidates must have an Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, or at least 36 college credit hours in qualifying subjects in early childhood development/education (in combination with a total of 60 college credit hours).
• Additional roles may be available for candidates who do not meet Lead Teacher criteria (Assistant Teacher, Substitute Teacher, or part-time Teacher).
• Candidates with 15 hours of early childhood coursework or a valid CDA credential may qualify for Assistant Teacher roles, if available.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in a classroom environment for extended periods.
• Must be able to sit, stand, and move around the classroom as needed to interact with children.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds when necessary.

Schedule

• 40 hours per week
• 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday
