Lead Systems Operations Engineer
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Systems Operations Engineer within its technology Digital Platform Engineering group. This role supports the platform for ECM Center of Excellence Delivery teams for production support of multiple critical applications, responsible for a portfolio of strategic products and applications across Run Operations, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and DevOps functions.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex, broad-impact initiatives including provision of high-level systems consultation for technology teams.
- Participate in large-scale planning of computer systems and network infrastructure for Systems Operations.
- Review and analyze complex technical challenges and escalated support issues related to core business solutions, evaluating multiple factors such as alternatives, enhancements, and improvements to existing systems.
- Make decisions on technical changes and enhancements.
- Consult with engineering teams on change design, requiring a solid understanding of technical process controls or standards that drive new initiatives.
- Review and provide inputs on non-functional requirements (NFRs).
- Collaborate with technical peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve systems support issues and achieve goals.
- Employ exceptional problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues before they affect business productivity.
- Monitor application and system performance and proactively address issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to deployments, builds, and system integrations.
Requirements
- 5+ years of Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
- 3+ years of experience troubleshooting environments across the entire ecosystem (applications to infrastructure), identifying root cause, fixing and documenting problems, and implementing preventive measures.
- Experience supporting technical efforts to design, build, and deploy cloud applications at the direction of lead architects, including large-scale data processing.
- 3+ years of experience with cloud platforms (Red Hat OCP, GCP, etc.).
- 3+ years of experience with a focus on Java-based applications.
- 3+ years of experience with observability tools like Splunk, AppDynamics, Grafana, etc.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience in leading L2/L3 production support functions and troubleshooting issues.
- Knowledge of DevOps principles and practices and experience with continuous integration/deployment pipelines.
- Strong scripting skills and an automation mindset.
- Experience with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with OCP, Java, and observability tools, as well as performance monitoring and log management tools.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Harness, GitLab CI, Bamboo, Azure DevOps).
- Organized and structured in driving highly matrixed deliverables across cross-functional teams, with the ability to quickly connect dots and troubleshoot issues.
- Experience with SRE practices.
- Knowledge of ServiceNow, OS (Windows/Unix), databases, load-balancing and auto-scaling solutions/patterns, and network communications.
- Good communication skills and ability to drive adoption of enterprise capabilities, tools, and innovation to improve availability in a multi-app ecosystem by evolving observability, monitoring, logging, synthetic monitoring, and chaos engineering.

Pay
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position: $119,000 - $187,000 USD annually. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
