Lead Systems Engineer (Modeling, Simulation, & Analysis)
Job Description
The analysis lead engineer supports Space Development Agency (SDA) Proliferated Warfighter System Architecture (PWSA) Tranche development. They spearhead Modeling and Simulation (M&S) development and analysis execution, integrating efforts across the SDA enterprise for a specific mission area (e.g., Link-16, ground command and control, tactical user engagement, etc.). The candidate provides technical input and advice to the Program Manager and/or technical director, serving in an Analysis Lead Engineering role to support design reviews, integrate analysis results with real-world test results, develop test procedures, and evaluate vendor solutions against PWSA architecture needs.
The ideal candidate should have:
- Experience with satellite and ground segment systems
- Experience with modeling, simulation and analysis (MS&A) tools for evaluating complex satellite and ground segment architectures
- Experience verifying and/or validating requirements through modeling, simulation, or analysis that either augments or replaces development and/or operational testing
- Rigorous problem-solving skills to identify and address system gaps proactively
- Strong oral and written communication skills
Specific tasks include:
- Leading performance analysis efforts for the Enterprise using the toolsets developed by the M&S Lead Engineer and those available through cell relationships with other organizations
- Establishing requirements based on warfighter input
- Verifying Enterprise-level requirements through analysis
- Validating system performance based on the results of Developmental Testing and Operational Testing
- Performing quick-turn analyses in support of external engagements and the Front Office
- Providing inputs and prioritization on needed updates to the M&S toolset
- Experience in modeling one or more of the critical mission areas: Missile Warning/Missile Tracking/Missile Defense, end-to-end kill chains, and/or communications systems and networks
- Ability to manage a distributed team across multiple organizations
- Ability to translate M&S results to actionable decision briefings to senior management
Qualifications
- TS/SCI clearance
- Bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering and math
- Minimum of 10 years' experience with complex modeling, simulation and analysis tools
- Strong experience in requirements development and tracking
- Technical and analytic understanding of satellite and ground system interaction
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with excellent oral and written communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in science, technology, engineering and math
- 12 years' experience with satellite fire control systems
- Experience with DoD and/or IC customers
- Experience with AFSIM, Python, and/or STK
- Current experience with space systems
