Lead Steward | Part-Time | Palm Springs Convention Center

Responsibilities

• Support overall food and beverage operations by participating as part of the culinary team.
• Aid in managing the facility's stewarding function and its staff members.
• Maintain standards for health, safety, cleanliness, and sanitation in stewarding areas.
• Control inventory and distribute supplies.
• Ensure stewarding and kitchen equipment are properly maintained.
• Contribute to 100% customer satisfaction through personal commitment to customer service and leading the steward team by example.
• Operate dish machines and wash items not dishwasher-safe by hand.
• Place clean dishes, utensils, or equipment in proper storage areas.
• Assist on the plate-up and food production line as needed.
• Sort and remove trash or compost and clean after usage.
• Sweep and/or scrub all floors in the kitchen and back of house areas.
• Place clean dishes, utensils, or equipment in proper storage areas.
• Assist in keeping dock areas clean and organized.
• Sort and remove trash or compost and clean after usage during events.
• Clean up spills and/or breakage on the event floor.
• Maintain a positive attitude and compliant employee relations climate.
• Ensure compliance with health, sanitation, safety, and employment regulations in accordance with company standards.
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen for the food and beverage operation.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of past experience working as a lead steward or in kitchen sanitation for a high-volume venue.
• Must acquire and maintain a Food Handlers Card, Alcohol Awareness Certification, and other required compliance trainings.
• Ability to positively interact with diverse personalities, including co-workers and managers in a variety of fast-paced work situations.
• Effective communication and detail-oriented skills.
• Self-directed and able to work in a team-oriented environment.
• Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and long hours.

Pay

This role pays an hourly rate of $20.00-$25.00.
