About the Role
Starting rate: $21.50 per hour. Under direct supervision of the Executive Steward, the Lead Steward will oversee the kitchen stewarding operations and staff on assigned shift.
Responsibilities
- Oversee dish room operations, basic night cleaning, receiving, and storing orders.
- Work to continually improve guest and team member satisfaction.
- Ensure cleanliness and sanitation in all food production service areas.
- Maintain sufficient equipment for all food and beverage outlets to perform adequately.
- Guide and develop stewarding staff; ensure sanitation and health standards are achieved.
- Oversee all stewarding and kitchen maintenance operations on assigned shift and in assigned outlet.
- Direct stewarding functions to promote overall cleanliness, sanitation, and compliance with health regulations.
- Set up workstations, clean and store dishes, fill dish machines, ensure correct chemical levels, organize coolers and freezers, and transport food product and equipment.
- Train stewards on current safety and sanitation issues to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Inform management of hazardous situations, emergencies, or threats to security.
- Ensure equipment is prepared and operational for the following shift’s work.
- Communicate needs to supervisor to maintain par stocks of materials and equipment (china, silverware, glassware).
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
- Provide guidance and direction to stewarding team on assigned shift.
- Communicate information to executive teams, managers, supervisors, and team members.
- Work to meet or exceed performance, budget, and team goals provided by the Executive Steward.
- Understand stewarding team members’ positions to perform duties in their absence or determine appropriate replacements.
- Ensure compliance with all food handling and sanitation standards.
- Follow proper handling and temperature standards of all food products.
- Ensure employees maintain required food handling and sanitation certifications.
- Lead steward team members in the maintenance of kitchen equipment, sanitation, organization, and cleaning.
- Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- May assist with other duties such as food dish-up, completing set-up sheets, etc.
Requirements
- A true desire to satisfy the needs of others.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to stand for long periods and lift approximately 30 lbs on a regular basis.
- Previous lead experience preferred but not required.
- Valid food handlers license preferred.
