About the role

The Lead Steward will ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and organization in our kitchens and stewarding areas. You will lead and support the stewarding team, ensuring efficiency, compliance with health and safety standards, and smooth operations that directly contribute to an exceptional dining experience for guests and a seamless working environment for culinary staff.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate stewarding staff in daily cleaning and dishwashing responsibilities.
  • Maintain sanitation and hygiene standards in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and stewarding equipment.
  • Support the culinary team by ensuring timely and efficient dish and utensil turnaround.
  • Implement and maintain systems for waste management, recycling, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Aid in training, mentoring, and scheduling stewarding staff to build a high-performing team.
  • Ensure stewarding equipment is well-maintained and operational, coordinating repairs when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and guide staff.
  • Keen attention to detail in sanitation, organization, and safety procedures.
  • Effective communicator and collaborator with both back-of-house and front-of-house teams.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to operational challenges.
  • Previous experience as a Stewarding Supervisor, Lead Steward, or equivalent role in hospitality or food service.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage dishwashing and stewarding teams effectively.
  • Hands-on experience with commercial dishwashing equipment and cleaning procedures.
  • Proven track record of maintaining sanitation standards and compliance with health regulations.
  • Experience with inventory management and basic administrative duties.
