About the Role
Ensures the accurate assembly of instrument trays and/or equipment independently. Utilizes the instrument tracking system and maintains adequate sterilization of instrumentation and/or equipment by preparing requested items for surgical and clinical procedures. Assists with ensuring staff follow guidelines and complete assignments timely and accurately.
Shift: Sat/Sun 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM, Tue/Wed 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Responsibilities
- Assists with orientation and daily workflow assignments for new employees.
- Supports development of in-service training for staff members.
- Coordinates daily workflow with staff to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Monitors workflow performed by staff to ensure correctness.
- Demonstrates and understands principles of sterilization in preparing items for OR and clinic use.
- Operates all sterilization and high-level disinfection (HLD) equipment according to manufacturer requirements and departmental policies.
- Demonstrates and understands principles of decontamination and standard precautions.
- Ensures all employees understand and apply decontamination principles.
- Functions as a sterile processing technician and/or endoscopy tech specialist.
- Monitors and inventories supplies to ensure instrumentation is available for OR and clinical areas.
- Implements quality assurance monitoring processes and ensures improvements are followed.
- Monitors record-keeping of repairs, maintenance, and quality assurance measures to ensure they are up to date and documented daily.
- Maintains and reviews missing instrumentation; submits requests for missing instrument orders and par levels to maintain functioning instrument trays.

Requirements
- Certifications: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) – Healthcare Sterile Processing Association, or Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSPT) – The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc.
- Work Experience: 3 years of relevant experience.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
