About the role
The AR Sortation Solutions Design Team is searching for an innovative and solutions-oriented engineer to design next-generation automated sortation systems for Amazon Fulfillment Centers (FCs), Sort Centers (SCs), and Amazon Logistics (AMZL).
Responsibilities
- Design automated sortation, package stacking into containers, and movement solutions that integrate with upstream and downstream systems to meet throughput requirements and Amazon design standards.
- Analyze operational and financial metrics to inform design decisions and feature prioritization.
- Partner with systems engineering and operations teams to optimize deployed solution performance.
- Lead multiple concurrent projects while coordinating with internal teams, external partners, contractors, and vendors.
- Build simulation models and conduct throughput analyses to validate solution feasibility and solve complex integration challenges and tradeoffs.
- Drive technical design projects from concept through implementation, understanding system-of-systems interactions across robotics, MHE, and facility infrastructure.
- Define solution requirements and drive them to product teams, ensuring alignment between business objectives and technical capabilities.
- Collaborate with global stakeholders through all design phases from initial design and systems integration through construction and startup.
- Work with product management and systems engineering to develop next-generation features that enhance solution performance.
- Travel up to 15% to sites in the US, Canada, and EU.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of design & innovation, research & development work experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a foreign equivalent
- Experience with design & innovation and research & development
- Experience in management of engineering design projects
- Knowledge of concepts like system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analysis, statistical analysis, reliability analysis, electronic system design, and decision making
- Experience modeling or simulating large-scale, high-volume distribution centers
- Experience with design-in-safety
