The AR Sortation Solutions Design Team is searching for an innovative and solutions-oriented engineer to design next-generation automated sortation systems for Amazon Fulfillment Centers (FCs), Sort Centers (SCs), and Amazon Logistics (AMZL). A successful candidate will have deep expertise in sortation technologies including linear sorters, crossbelt systems, palletizing automation, and AMR/AGV applications, with the ability to understand system-of-systems level interactions across material handling equipment, robotics, and facility infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Design automated sortation, package stacking into containers, and movement solutions that integrate with upstream and downstream systems to meet throughput requirements and Amazon design standards.
  • Analyze operational and financial metrics to inform design decisions and feature prioritization.
  • Partner with systems engineering and operations teams to optimize deployed solution performance.
  • Lead multiple concurrent projects while coordinating with internal teams, external partners, contractors, and vendors.
  • Build simulation models and conduct throughput analyses to validate solution feasibility and solve complex integration challenges and tradeoffs.
  • Drive technical design projects from concept through implementation, understanding system-of-systems interactions across robotics, MHE, and facility infrastructure.
  • Define solution requirements and drive them to product teams, ensuring alignment between business objectives and technical capabilities.
  • Collaborate with global stakeholders through all design phases from initial design and systems integration through construction and startup.
  • Work with product management and systems engineering to develop next-generation features that enhance solution performance.
  • Travel up to 15% to sites in the US, Canada, and EU.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications include 5+ years of design & innovation, research & development work experience and a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a foreign equivalent. Experience with design & innovation and research & development, management of engineering design projects, and complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems and high-speed manufacturing is required.

  • 5+ years of specialty (with progressive responsibility) experience
  • Master's degree in Engineering (any domain), Operations, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Knowledge of concepts like system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analysis, statistical analysis, reliability analysis, electronic system design, and decision making
  • Experience modeling or simulating large-scale, high-volume distribution centers
  • Experience with design-in-safety

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $132,100.00 - $178,800.00 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
