This position can be located in Waltham, MA, or Brooklyn, NY (candidates may also reside in Connecticut, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Maine, or the UK).

About the role

As a Lead Solution Architect, you will shape the architecture of our technology solutions, ensuring alignment with business goals and strategies. You will lead the design and implementation of Electric Work and Asset Management solutions, providing technical solution architecture guidance and expertise to programs and products supporting the Electric Domain. You will develop end-to-end architecture designs and drive innovation in our technology landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure alignment of IT strategies with business goals and identify capability gaps and technology recommendations to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Provide technical thought leadership and direction for the design of highly complex, large-scale systems solutions to meet business needs.
  • Lead the architecture and solution design of projects/products addressing strategic business needs and regulatory compliance, including in-depth analysis of solution options and technology recommendations.
  • Define roadmaps from the "as-is state" to the "to-be state," designing secure, efficient, and adaptable future state models and migration/transition plans.
  • Lead solution design and guide the implementation of scalable, robust, and secure solutions.
  • Create Conceptual Architecture addressing high-level business requirements, and develop Logical and Physical Architecture of solutions and platforms.
  • Develop integration patterns and detailed integration designs to enable timely, efficient delivery and data flow.
  • Design secure, scalable, and flexible solutions, ensuring non-functional, reliability, and observability requirements are incorporated from the start.
  • Maintain broad knowledge of business applications/services in the electric work and asset management domain, providing technical subject matter expertise.
  • Establish, adhere to, and enforce architecture principles, guidelines, and standards.
  • Conduct architecture reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience designing systems for large-scale enterprises.
  • 5+ years of hands-on technology development and/or implementation experience.
  • Strong technical skills in vendor product selection, software and technology analysis, business analytics, and interfaces such as REST.
  • Experience with modern software technologies such as Containers and Microservices.
  • Experience with one or more TOGAF (or equivalent) architectural domains (business, application, data, technology) and architecture tools such as Troux, Alfabet, or Sparx.
  • Experience supporting Agile delivery frameworks and the digital product lifecycle.
  • Experience developing solutions with both custom and COTS applications.
  • Experience with Work & Asset Management technology related to utilities is a plus (e.g., Asset and Work Management Solutions, Geospatial Systems like Maximo, MAS8/9, ESRI GIS).

Pay

  • Waltham, MA: $157,000 – $184,000 a year
  • Brooklyn, NY: $168,000 – $197,000 a year

National Grid will not provide visa sponsorship for this position. Candidates must be able to work without current or future visa sponsorship.
