Company introductionProject Management and Construction is an organization responsible for delivering new power generation projects from development through engineering, construction, commissioning, and turnover. The group supports a growing generation portfolio, including utility-scale solar, battery energy storage (BESS), natural gas generation, and other emerging technologies. Within PMC, Project Engineering provides the technical leadership needed to align design, construction, commissioning, and interconnection activities so projects are delivered safely, reliably, and ready for operation.Role summary / purposeThe Renewables Project Engineer leads technical execution for Solar, BESS, and Solar-plus-Storage projects by coordinating across teams of discipline engineers, project managers, project controls, equipment suppliers, engineering consultants, Transmission Owners/Providers, and EPC contractors to deliver technically complete and compliant projects. The role sets expectations for the design schedules, deliverable ownership, review cycles, and comment resolution, while monitoring technical dependencies and driving readiness for construction and commissioning. The Renewables Project Engineer also leads the project-side coordination of transmission interconnection technical reviews, ensuring the plant's design, controls, models, studies, settings, and commissioning evidence are ready to support interconnection milestones. The role actively identifies interconnection risks, resolves cross-functional issues, escalates barriers, and keeps technical work aligned with project and interconnection milestones. Through this leadership, the Project Engineer helps ensure technical risks, requirements, dependencies, and readiness items are visible, understood, and actively managed throughout the project lifecycle.Although this role has an assigned work location, the position requires regular engagement with active project sites, especially during construction, commissioning, inspection, and turnover periods.Key responsibilitiesKey Project Engineering responsibilities include:Establishes and maintains a technical execution plan that defines required deliverables, accountable contributors, submission dates, review periods, technical dependencies, and completion criteria through design, integration, pre-commissioning, testing, and as-built phases.Provides direction to EPC contractors, engineers of record, OEMs, consultants, and internal technical organizations regarding required deliverables, quality expectations, technical requirements, and response timelines.Leads project-side coordination of transmission interconnection technical reviews for IBR projects including planning, deliverable coordination, submission readiness, comment resolution, and milestone preparation.Leads technical readiness for interconnection inspection activities; drives resolution of resulting findings and confirms that required corrective actions are incorporated into project execution.Leads cross-functional resolution of technical issues that arise during engineering, construction, commissioning, and turnover, ensuring impacts to scope, schedule, cost, quality, compliance, and interconnection readiness are understood and managed.Identifies gaps, conflicts, or ambiguity among interconnection agreements, technical interconnection requirements, design criteria, contract scope, and project execution plans, and facilitates timely resolution with the appropriate technical, commercial, and project stakeholders.Supports project schedule integration by aligning engineering deliverables, interconnection milestones, construction needs, commissioning activities, and turnover requirements.Coordinates technical closeout activities, including as-built documentation, commissioning evidence, corrective-action closure, and turnover readiness.General Engineering Responsibilities include:Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity.Contributes to team decision-making in the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities.Deals with changing priorities and differing situations and makes decisions that may affect the work of the team.Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches related to well-defined problems and analysis of increasing scope and complexity.Conducts engineering and related studies.Completes routine engineering projects with minimal oversight with increasing ability to independently manage project schedules and interfaces; increasingly competent to design, operate and maintain systems with moderate impact on existing systems.Possesses and applies the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures; proficient in technical and analytical competencies.Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.Maintains accurate records and files.Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.Requirements - education & experienceBachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited programA Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S.
