About the role
The Lead Software Engineer on the Store Item and Inventory Management Systems (SIIMS) team at Publix Super Markets, Inc. is responsible for designing, developing, debugging, and supporting technical solutions on web and mobile platforms. The role supports various business processes including adjustments, counts, in-store transfers, store-to-store transfers, and managing item's data, store price overrides, and price & promotion data.
Responsibilities
- Partner with cross-functional teams to design, develop, debug, and support complex technical solutions across the product portfolio.
- Lead knowledge transfers and facilitate high-quality code reviews.
- Refine and prioritize team backlogs by providing technical input, ensuring alignment with architectural standards and business objectives.
- Monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot application workloads in Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), proactively identifying performance bottlenecks and partnering with DevOps to resolve infrastructure and deployment issues.
- Serve as a senior technical resource and mentor to engineers, conducting code reviews, analyzing defects, and guiding solution design and best practices.
- Work closely with cross-functional partners (Business System Analysts, Quality Assurance, and Software Engineers) to deliver secure, compliant, and high-quality solutions.
- Provide strategic technical recommendations to leadership, influencing architecture, tooling, and development approaches.
- Participate in an on-call rotation, delivering timely resolution of production issues and ensuring system reliability and uptime.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, Computer Science, Business, or other analytical disciplines or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of IT experience delivering enterprise applications (design, development, and end-to-end delivery), with a proven track record leading complex, cross-team initiatives.
- 5+ years of experience with .NET Core and C#, MVC.
- 5+ years of experience with SQL, database design, and ORM frameworks (such as Dapper or Entity Framework).
- 3+ years designing and building microservices, RESTful APIs, and event-driven/distributed systems, including resiliency patterns, observability, scalability, and high availability.
- 1+ years of experience monitoring and troubleshooting application workloads deployed to Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), identifying performance bottlenecks and collaborating with DevOps teams to resolve infrastructure-related issues.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex issues in distributed systems.
- Ability to work on call as required by leadership (Tier 4 resolution, every 3 weeks).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Agile/Scrum environments collaborating closely with Product Owners and Scrum Masters.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills; proven ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
- Hands-on experience with modern frontend frameworks (React, Next.js, or Blazor) integrated with backend APIs.
- Experience using logging and diagnostic tools in Azure to discover, diagnose, and solve problems.
- Experience building highly scalable systems and performance tuning them.
- Regular use of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Clean Architecture for enterprise-scale solutions.
- Test automation background (unit, integration, end-to-end/load testing) using frameworks such as xUnit, Selenium, and Robot, with a commitment to high coverage and maintainable test suites.
- Experience developing Android applications using Xamarin Forms or native Android.
Benefits
Year End Bonus: One month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
