About the role
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead government implementations across our software platforms. This role involves working closely with government customers to ensure our systems meet rigorous compliance standards while delivering exceptional value.
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement government-specific versions of our software platforms
- Ensure systems meet security, compliance, and operational requirements unique to federal customers
- Adapt data pipelines, APIs, and analysis tools to work within government infrastructure constraints
- Maintain performance and reliability while meeting these requirements
- Own the entire development lifecycle, working directly with government stakeholders to understand their technical requirements
- Troubleshoot complex integration issues and deliver solutions that meet mission-critical needs
Requirements
- At least five years of software engineering experience with a focus on high-priority software development efforts
- Ability to work across full stack technologies, including Ruby on Rails, Postgres, Python, and Rust
- Strong background in data engineering, including building pipelines, processing large datasets, optimizing data storage, and retrieval
- Proven experience developing software that adheres to stringent security compliance standards, such as FedRAMP, ITAR, NIST 800-53, or similar
- Written and verbal communication skills suitable for a customer-facing role, capable of explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills across the stack
- Ability to obtain a security clearance
Qualifications
- Experience with atmospheric, geospatial, or sensor data systems is a plus
- Familiarity with cloud platforms in government contexts (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government) is a plus
- Background in systems programming, real-time data processing, or scientific computing is a plus
- Prior work in aerospace, defense, or climate tech is a plus
Skills
- Technical proficiency in Ruby on Rails, Python, Rust, and other relevant languages
- Experience with data engineering and pipeline development
- Knowledge of security compliance standards and frameworks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Problem-solving and debugging abilities across the stack
