Lead Software Engineer, Fullstack (Python, Typescript, React, AWS)

As a Lead Software Engineer in Risk Tech you’ll drive a major transformation into a real-time, intelligent discipline powered by modern products and technical capabilities. The mission spans two pillars: Risk Management Tech (RMT) builds frameworks and tools for monitoring risks, testing controls, and managing regulatory requirements; AML and Compliance Tech (ACT) ensures products are delivered ethically and in strict compliance with BSA/AML regulations and global laws. Architecture & Engineering Excellence teams bridge business strategy with technical execution and empower engineers to build better, more resilient systems—turning Risk Tech into a competitive advantage.
Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices and full-stack systems to create solutions that meet regulatory needs.
- Stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal and external technology communities, and mentor other engineers.
- Collaborate with digital product managers and deliver robust cloud-based solutions that drive powerful experiences for millions of Americans pursuing financial empowerment.
Technologies & tools
- Languages: JavaScript, Java, Node.js, HTML/CSS, TypeScript, SQL, Python, Go
- Databases: Open-source RDBMS and NoSQL databases
- Orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes
- Cloud: Variety of AWS tools and services
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least 4 years of software engineering experience (internship experience does not apply)
- At least 1 year of cloud-computing experience (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
Preferred qualifications
- Master’s degree
- 7+ years of experience in at least one of: Python, TypeScript, React
- 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, or another cloud service
- 4+ years of experience with open-source frameworks
- 1+ years of people-management experience
- 2+ years of experience with Agile practices
- Experience leveraging interactive AI tooling to accelerate productivity beyond basic code completion
Pay
Salaries are location-based and reflect the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of posting. Incentives may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives; eligibility and specifics are detailed in the offer letter.
