About the role
We’re seeking a Lead Software Engineer (P5) to drive technical leadership on our Fleet Management team, which is responsible for the deployment, observability, and lifecycle of software across tens of thousands of edge devices. These devices are critical to SafelyYou’s ability to detect falls and deliver meaningful insights to care staff.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and implementation of Go-based edge services used in real-time fall detection systems
- Own our OTA pipeline: ensure safe, scalable, and observable deployment of software to over 60K devices
- Drive improvements in observability, monitoring, alerting, and production readiness of the fleet of sensors
- Guide and coach a team of engineers, reviewing designs and helping others grow through mentorship
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Hardware, AI, and Operations teams to deliver reliable end-to-end outcomes
- Set the tone for high-impact engineering through design reviews, technical leadership, and reliability-focused thinking
The Ideal Candidate
- Professional experience with Go (Golang) in production systems
- Prior experience in IoT, edge devices, embedded, or hardware-software interfacing
- Experience with distributed systems: deployment safety, reliability, incident response, or operating software at scale
- Comfort in Linux environments, plus strong debugging and performance instincts
- Able to own systems end-to-end: design → implementation → rollout → monitoring → iteration
- Strong technical communicator and mentor - ready to guide P1–P4 engineers
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Familiarity with OTA upgrade pipelines, rollback mechanisms, and CI/CD tooling for device fleets
- Exposure to healthcare, compliance-sensitive, or mission-critical systems
- Experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, or other cloud-native tools
