About the Role

Responsibilities
- Actively oversee and participate in the movement of materials into, within, and out of the facility to ensure timely and accurate material flow.
- Perform all job functions associated with the Shipping/Receiving Specialist role as needed to support operational continuity.
- Coordinate truckload freight arrangements by developing freight requirements, requesting quotes from approved carriers, analyzing carrier proposals, and scheduling loads.
- Partner with Purchasing to create and manage freight-related purchase orders.
- Support and assist Shipping/Receiving Specialists and other team members in resolving logistics-related issues.
- Assist in developing training materials for Shipping/Receiving Specialists and Lead roles.
- Provide hands-on training and guidance on job responsibilities, procedures, and best practices.
- Mentor logistics team members while modeling positive behavior, professionalism, and a strong team-focused attitude.
- Participate in and promote Lean and Six Sigma initiatives related to Shipping and Receiving.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements that enhance efficiency, safety, accuracy, and throughput.
- Support the implementation of standardized work and best practices across logistics operations.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more of the following areas: international shipping, truckload freight arrangements, information systems (Ops Manager, Job Track, Baan), and material handling equipment usage and safety.
- Act as a key point of contact for logistics process knowledge and troubleshooting.
- Safely operate overhead cranes, hi-lo (forklift) equipment, and other material handling equipment as required.
- Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements.
- Perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Requirements
- Minimum of three years in a business environment; two or more years of logistics, materials management, or supply chain experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent experience (two years of relevant work experience for each year of academic study).
- Related certification(s) or college education preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proven ability to accept direction and complete tasks as assigned while working as part of a team or individually.
- Ability to obtain a Hi-Lo (Forklift) and Overhead Crane license while employed at JR Automation.
- Current or prior JR Automation experience, or experience in the automation industry, is strongly preferred.
