Role Overview

This role is responsible for overseeing daily shipping, receiving, and material movement operations to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely flow of materials throughout the facility. The position supports logistics execution by coordinating freight activities, managing transportation arrangements, and serving as a key resource for shipping, receiving, and supply chain processes.

How You’ll Make An Impact

  • Operate actively oversee and participate in the movement of materials into, within, and out of the facility to ensure timely and accurate material flow.

  • Perform all job functions associated with the S/R Specialist role, as needed, to support operational continuity.

  • Cook up truckload freight arrangements by developing freight requirements, requesting quotes from approved carriers, analyzing carrier proposals, and scheduling loads.

  • Partner with Purchasing to create and manage freight-related purchase orders.

  • Support and assist S/R Specialists and other JR team members in resolving logistics-related issues.

  • Aid in developing training materials for S/R Specialists and Lead S/R Specialist role.

  • Provide hands-on training and guidance to S/R Specialists and other Leads on job responsibilities, procedures, and best practices.

  • Mentor logistics team members while modeling positive behavior, professionalism, and a strong team-focused attitude.

  • Participate in and promote Lean and Six Sigma initiatives related to Shipping and Receiving.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements that enhance efficiency, safety, accuracy, and throughput.

  • Support the implementation of standardized work and best practices across logistics operations.

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more of the following areas: International shipping, Truckload freight arrangements, Information systems (Ops Manager, Job Track, Baan), Material handling equipment usage and safety.

  • Act as a key point of contact for logistics process knowledge and troubleshooting.

  • Safely operate overhead cranes, hi-lo (forklift) equipment, and other material handling equipment as required.

  • Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements.

What You’ll Bring

  • 3+ years in a business environment; 2 or more years of logistics, materials management, or supply chain experience preferred.

  • Logistics, Material Management or Supply Chain experience preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Proven ability to accept direction and complete tasks as assigned while working as part of a team or individually.

  • Ability to obtain a Hi-Lo (Forklift) and Overhead Crane license while employed at JR.
