Lead School Social Worker

About the Role

This position provides direct clinical services to clients within Agency policies and programs while supporting overall departmental functioning.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all duties outlined for a school social worker with a 30% reduced student caseload.
  • Co-lead quarterly Utilization Review.
  • Develop an increased leadership role in both clinical and classroom teams by providing consultation and a therapeutic lens.
  • Assist with school-wide training focused on clinical topics and/or best practices.
  • Coordinate and support Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) services in line with student needs and restorative practices.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to running the department, such as maintaining documents, creating systems, and planning meetings.
  • Support clinical staff in IEP preparation, goal evaluation, and other school procedures for collecting IEP data.
  • Co-plan and lead group supervision for clinical staff.
  • Coach and mentor clinical staff on clinical interventions and provide consultation when the Director is unavailable.
  • Consult with the Director on assignment of new and transfer cases to clinical staff.
  • Provide consultation for the intake process, including reviewing referrals and recommending case assignments and class placement.
  • Participate in the hiring process for new clinicians.
  • Assist the Director in implementing professional growth initiatives and team management for assigned clinicians.
  • Maintain certification for CPI with Advanced Skills, Ukeru, and Collaborative Problem Solving.
  • Use Advanced CPI methods to manually restrain students/clients (ages 5 to 22) who pose a danger to themselves or others, including physical interventions such as taking a resident from a standing position to the floor, deflecting blows, and clearing spaces for safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in social work from an accredited institution (verified via official certified transcripts).
  • Clinical LCSW State license.
  • Supervisory recommendation for internal candidates.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain requirements for direct service productivity and documentation.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule for school events and trainings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience in a school setting with direct clinical practice.
  • Supervisory or administrative experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
