Lead School Based Threat Assessment Therapist

The Licensed Therapist & Behavioral Threat Assessment Trainer is a dual-function clinical role at the heart of InSite’s Tennessee program. This professional delivers InSite’s NTAC-aligned threat assessment training to partner school teams (Tier 1) and provides licensed clinical consultation to school staff following threat assessments and for return-to-school decisions (Tier 3). This is an ideal role for a licensed therapist who is passionate about school safety, experienced in behavioral threat assessment or school-based mental health, and energized by teaching and training others.
Responsibilities
Tier 1: Training and Protocol Delivery
- Deliver InSite’s NTAC-aligned behavioral threat assessment training to partner school teams including principals, school counselors, and school resource officers
- Facilitate both live virtual and in-person training sessions across partner schools during initial rollout and ongoing annual cohorts
- Support the development and refinement of district-specific threat assessment policies and protocols in collaboration with InSite’s clinical leadership
- Onboard new district staff to the threat assessment protocol through structured onboarding sessions
- Document training completion and maintain records within the InSite Wellness Platform
Tier 3: Clinical Consultation
- Provide licensed clinical consultation to school teams following school-initiated threat assessments, on request
- Review available case information with the school team and advise on appropriate interventions, risk considerations, and next steps
- Support return-to-school decisions by consulting with school staff on student readiness and appropriate conditions for return
- Provide referral recommendations for students requiring ongoing clinical care beyond the school’s capacity
- Document all consultations within the InSite Wellness Platform in accordance with FERPA, HIPAA, and InSite’s clinical documentation standards
- Participate in monthly case quality reviews with InSite’s National Medical Director
Clinical Standards
- Maintain active LPC or LCSW licensure in Tennessee in good standing
- Adhere to InSite’s clinical protocols and the NTAC threat assessment framework
- Complete InSite’s internal BTAM training certification within 60 days of hire
- Participate in ongoing professional development and clinical supervision as required
Requirements
Required
- Active LPC or LCSW licensure in the State of Tennessee, in good standing
- Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related clinical field
- 2+ years of post-licensure clinical experience
- Experience in school-based mental health, behavioral threat assessment, or student safety
- Strong training, facilitation, or public speaking skills
- Ability to communicate clinical information clearly to non-clinical school staff
- Based in or willing to relocate to the Nashville, TN area
Preferred
- NTAC threat assessment training or certification
- Prior experience in Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management (BTAM)
- Experience working directly within K-12 school environments
- Experience working with children, adolescents, or youth in a clinical or school-based setting
- Familiarity with Virginia Tech’s WAVR-21 or comparable structured threat assessment tools
- Experience conducting psychiatric or risk/threat clearance evaluations
- Bilingual Spanish/English a plus given the diverse student populations in our Tennessee district partners

Pay
$85,000 – $110,000 annually, commensurate with experience and licensure
