About the role
The Lead Rotating Equipment Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of mechanical equipment in the plant. They collaborate with engineers, planners, and other field personnel to maintain high standards of safety and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Carry out all tasks safely and efficiently, adhering to safety principles and policies.
- Lead safety initiatives through visible actions and safety observation conversations.
- Participate in incident investigations, share lessons learned, and track corrective actions.
- Ensure proper housekeeping and meet Asset Care priorities for assigned areas.
- Always prioritize safety over production or maintenance.
- Review work scopes and take appropriate safety measures.
- Update and review maintenance procedures on schedule, communicate changes, and conduct training.
- Support craftsman in completing critical Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasks.
- Coordinate with maintenance coordinators on larger jobs, ensuring clear understanding of work scopes and timelines.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and eliminate root causes.
- Serve as a technical resource for maintenance repair techniques.
- Generate ideas for capital and expense projects to improve rotating equipment reliability.
- Provide technical support to engineering project teams installing, modifying, or affecting mechanical equipment.
- Follow project progress, ensuring mechanical equipment is installed correctly and parameters are set for desired operation.
- Work with project and asset teams to set up new equipment in asset management systems like SAP.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- At least 10 years of millwright experience in a plant.
- NCCER Millwright Certification required.
- 5 years of vibration analysis experience.
- Preferred certification in vibration analysis (Mobius Institute, Vibration Academy, etc.).
- Possess or obtain a TWIC card prior to employment.
- Valid driver's license in the United States.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States permanently.
- SAP experience in Plant Maintenance preferred.
- Microsoft Office Suite skills.
- Knowledge of process and personal safety and health practices in the petrochemical industry.
- Experience with mechanical and rotating equipment standards and codes.
- Technical documentation knowledge.
- Ability to assess vendor quotes and work sequencing.
- Preventive maintenance plan execution experience.
- Reading Process and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs).
Qualifications
- Must possess or obtain a TWIC card prior to first day of employment.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis.
- Must have a current, valid driver's license in the United States.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have at least 10 years of millwright experience in a plant.
- Must have NCCER Millwright Certification.
- Must have 5 years of vibration analysis experience.
- Preferred completion of a technical school program in vibration analysis.
- Must have a current, valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the United States.
- Must be able to demonstrate a strong working knowledge of safety and health practices in the petrochemical industry.
- Must have experience with mechanical and rotating equipment standards and codes.
- Must have technical documentation knowledge.
- Must have experience assessing vendor quotes and work sequencing.
- Must have experience executing preventive maintenance plans.
- Must have the ability to read P&IDs.
