About the role
Performs difficult repairs requiring precision adjustments to automotive equipment, trucks, and construction equipment, and supervises equipment technicians.
Responsibilities
- Perform all duties of an equipment technician.
- Perform difficult automotive and mechanical repairs requiring precision adjustments on a variety of vehicles, trucks and equipment.
- Conduct training and safety sessions for subordinate technicians.
- Perform advanced service writer duties such as pricing repair orders and posting production data on a computer.
- Evaluate quality and expedience of technician’s assigned tasks.
- Assign repair orders to technicians.
- Ensure quality service through effective customer relations and timely feedback.
- Function as service manager/supervisor in the event of his/her absence.
Qualifications
- Completion of an associate degree in auto/diesel mechanics with an additional four years of experience as a journey level mechanic; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following:
Knowledge and Abilities
- Knowledge of diesel and gasoline engine repair techniques.
- Ability to perform state inspections on vehicles.
- Perform difficult repairs on all major systems.
- Use precision tools and instruments.
- Meet certification and/or competency standards established for the position.
- Communicate effectively with others.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Frequently stand and walk during the shift.
- Frequently bend and kneel during the shift.
- Frequently push and pull objects.
- Occasionally flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially flex at the knees.
- Occasionally rotate upper trunk to the right or left while sitting or standing.
- Frequently reach above, at or below shoulder height.
- Coordinate eye and hand movement in order to operate a vehicle.
Valid current commercial driver’s license required.
