Job Summary and Qualifications
The Lead Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. As a vital part of the patient care team, the Lead Respiratory Therapist performs a variety of diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures and monitors patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the application and operation of acute care ventilators used for continuous short and long-term mechanical ventilation.
- Maintain all department and hospital records and enter accurate information into the hospital computer for the therapy as given.
- Evaluate the respiratory needs of your patients and develop and implement the Respiratory Care Plan for your patients.
- Perform procedures with care and empathy for our patients.
Requirements
- Completion of a two-year AMA approved respiratory care program (Associates Degree or equivalent) or Bachelor Degree preferred.
- Graduate of Respiratory Care program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).
- Minimum 3 years Respiratory Therapy experience; critical care and intubation experience preferred.
- Current Florida Certified (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) licensure.
- American Heart Association BLS health care provider required. ACLS, PALS and NRP within 6 months of hire.
