Lead Remote Upgrade Engineer,
About the role
As a Lead Remote Upgrade Engineer within Baxter Care Communications, you will play a key role in helping healthcare organizations maintain, optimize, and modernize the communication technologies that support patient care. This is where your technical expertise helps customers successfully adopt new software releases, improve system performance, and maximize the value of their Baxter solutions.
In this role, you will lead complex upgrade initiatives across highly integrated healthcare environments, provide technical guidance to fellow engineers, and serve as a trusted technical partner to customer IT teams. Your work will directly support the continued reliability, security, and performance of critical communication systems used across healthcare facilities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed assessments of existing Care Communications environments and develop upgrade strategies based on software, hardware, network, and integration requirements.
- Lead and execute upgrades across Baxter Care Communications products in complex customer environments.
- Facilitate technical discussions and site assessments with customer IT teams regarding network architecture, failover strategies, server deployments, and system design considerations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system, application, database, infrastructure, and networking issues across multiple product platforms.
- Partner with Product Development, Project Management, and Technical Support teams to identify root causes, drive product improvements, and improve customer outcomes.
- Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and first-level escalation support to Remote Upgrade Engineers to help ensure successful project execution.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, process reviews, and change management activities that enhance team effectiveness and deployment quality.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in software, systems administration, infrastructure, networking, or related technical environments.
- Advanced experience supporting Microsoft Windows Server, SQL Server, IIS, and interconnected enterprise systems.
- Advanced experience deploying, supporting, and troubleshooting Linux-based environments, including Kubernetes platforms.
- Experience configuring, deploying, and troubleshooting Windows and Linux systems in production environments.
- Detailed knowledge of TCP/IP networking, routing, switching, VLANs, managed networks, client-server architecture, and network security.
- Knowledge of wireless networking technologies and associated security protocols.
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting complex enterprise environments involving hardware, software, databases, applications, and network infrastructure.
- Ability to travel up to 20%.
Pay
The estimated base salary for this position is $96,000 – $132,000. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
