Lead Registered Nurse (DOH/FBMC #13691+)

Salary: $40.28 - $64.45 hourly / $83,790 - $134,063 annually. This position is a Pay Band C11.

About the role

This position will assess patients’ health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and administer nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, and/or disabled patients. The incumbent will provide ongoing training, advise patients on health maintenance, disease prevention, and case management.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
• Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
• Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
• Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
• Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.

Customers

Residents at a long-term care facility.

Ideal Candidate

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
• Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities.
• Ability to function independently, with flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.

Requirements

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico.
• Five (5) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.

Employment Requirements

• This position is designated as safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing for alcohol and/or drugs in accordance with federal and state law.
• Screening for tuberculosis (TB) upon hire.
• Employment is subject to a nationwide criminal background check pursuant to the New Mexico Caregivers Criminal Screening Act and is conditional pending results.
• Licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico.

Working Conditions

• Works throughout the nursing service area (e.g., nurses stations, resident rooms).
• Moves intermittently during working hours and is subject to frequent interruptions.
• Involved with residents, personnel, visitors, and government agencies/personnel.
• Subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.
• Communicates with medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department directors.
• Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
• Subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster).
• Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions.
• Must adhere to COVID-related requirements prescribed by CMS, including masking and staff vaccination.
• Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
