Lead Recreation Assistant (Range Operations) NF-03

About the role

This position is located at the Skeet Range - Fort Polk, Louisiana. Join our team at Fort Polk-home of the Joint Readiness Training Center. Responsibilities

• Executes range facility opening, closing and operating procedures in accordance with installation, local, and federal laws.
• Transports guns and ammunition to the range on a daily basis.
• Captures medical support through the installation range control agency.
• Instructs patrons on range safety practices and provides general fire arm and marksmanship information.
• Ensures proper handling storage, accountability, inventory of ammunition and firearms.
• Checks inventory and supplies and reorders supplies as needed.
• Issues ammunition and range related accessories to customers, checks ID, and collects fees.
• Performs cashier duties and maintains records of sales.
• Trains and assigns task to subordinate staff.
• Demonstrates techniques and instructs participants in the use of equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Conditions of employment: Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required. Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. A one year probationary period may be required. Satisfactory completion of an employment verification (E-Verify) check. Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
• Must be able to obtain current Installation Range Certification Card, National Rifle Association (NRA) Range Safety Officer Certification, or equivalent certification within 60 days of entrance on duty.
• Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds without assistance and heavier loads with assistance.
• Must meet age restrictions (age 18+) for the handling of firearms.
• A pre-employment drug test is required.
• The incumbent will be subject to subsequent random drug tests as required.

Qualifications

• Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.
• A Qualified Candidate Must Possess All Of The Following Prior experience with firing range operations, skeet and trap and firearm safety, and firearms instruction.
• Must possess basic knowledge of National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA) rules and scoring.
• Knowledge of and ability to use a computer and cash register.
• Possess good customer service skills and have experience working with the general public.
• Must be able to obtain current instructor-level certification in (at minimum) basic shotgun shooting, and range safety officer, from a recognized national governing body (e.g. NSSA, NRA, NSCA, NACFI, etc.) within 60 days of entrance on duty.
