About the Role

Performs a variety of shipping and receiving tasks to keep accurate records of all materials received, inspect shipments, and reconcile packing slips or manifests with actual items. Verifies that materials are delivered to correct departments or properly stored in the warehouse. Prepares items for shipment ensuring cost-effective courier services and leads the work of shipping and receiving personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and unloads incoming materials; compares quantities shown on packing slips to actual items received and original purchase order.
  • Prepares bills of lading for each shipment; checks and records all items loaded for shipment.
  • Prepares shipments for postal or commercial conveyance; determines most economical and efficient shipping method.
  • Selects appropriate shipping container; packs items to ensure safe delivery.
  • Maintains shipping records such as goods returned, returnable pallets, and other shipping materials.
  • Inspects items according to instructions; reports damaged goods to Director and arranges for necessary returns.
  • Enters receipt of goods into computerized inventory records, including item number, quantity, and price.
  • Operates dolly, pallet jack, and/or forklift in loading and unloading supplies and equipment.
  • Spot-checks inventory on a daily basis; reconciles computer records with physical inventory according to established schedule.
  • Reports discrepancies, over-shipments, or substitutions to Director.
  • Provides advice regarding supplies or property, including price and availability.
  • Coordinates disposal of surplus property and manages record retention.
  • Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of receiving area, including loading dock and trash areas.
  • Maximizes workload through effective and proper procedures for receiving all products.

Requirements

  • Three to five years’ experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse techniques, supervising people and processes.
  • Two-year degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to input data on a computer to create daily inventory reports and routine administrative paperwork.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties under frequent time pressures.
  • Analyze and interpret departmental needs and results.
  • Ability to read, sort, check, count, and verify numbers.
  • Knowledge of postal or commercial shipping methods and procedures.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of Alcohol Beverage Control laws for the local area, Health regulations, applicable OSHA regulations, and Gaming regulations.
  • Ability to lead, guide, and train employees performing related work.
  • Must be able to work in an alcohol and smoking environment.
  • Must have the ability to secure and maintain licensure as required by the Louisiana Gaming Control Board or any other applicable regulatory entity.
