Job Responsibilities
- Organoleptic and analytical analyses of products at various stages of production to ensure compliance with company Quality and Food Safety standards.
- Responsible for maintaining sound calibration and validation programs for lab instrumentation such as HPLC, DMA, PFD, CarboQC, OxyQC, Refractometer, Autotitrators, Microscopes, Balances, pH Meter, Microbiological Luminescence System, UV-Vis, etc.
- Determining that each instrument or device performs within the specified operational parameters.
- Providing accurate results and exhibiting sound judgment before releasing data used to adjust syrup tanks and release finished product to market.
- Qualifying and quantifying instrument and analytical output for validity.
- Performing microbiological testing of water, sugar, finished products, etc. by membrane filtration technique.
- Performing surface swabbing on equipment.
- Assuring quality and integrity of raw bulk ingredients such as sugar, CO2, Liquid N2, etc.
- Understanding chemical principles and theories related to analytical methods and instrumentation, GLP (Good Laboratory Practices), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP, Chemical Safety as well as lab housekeeping procedures.
- Maintaining QA document and record control procedures, formula and specification control, consumer complaints, nonconforming materials and products, etc.
- Performing statistical analysis of laboratory data and using data to recommend improvements in processes.
- Managing the finished product retain system.
- Training new personnel and existing laboratory staff to new procedures and techniques.
- Conducting instrument and method development, performing validation programs on new processes and procedures.
- Aiding Quality Supervisors and Quality Managers with special projects as directed.
Position Requirements
- Science background.
- Chemistry, Biology or Food Science-related degree preferred.
- Laboratory experience in a dairy, food or beverage manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Ability to handle stressful, fast-paced and rapidly-changing environment.
- Must be able to multitask and exhibit excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Advanced knowledge in Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, InfinityQS, Minitab, SAP.
- Excellent training capabilities, excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Dependable, detail-oriented, good problem-solving abilities and strong commitment to teamwork.
