Lead Quality Engineer
About The Role
As a Senior QA Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in driving test automation initiatives across web applications, APIs, and end-to-end business workflows. You will contribute to the design and maintenance of automation frameworks, develop robust automated test suites, and integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery. Working within an Agile environment, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate application functionality, identify defects, perform root cause analysis, and promote quality throughout the software development lifecycle. This role is ideal for a hands-on automation professional who is passionate about building scalable test solutions and improving software quality through modern engineering practices.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain automation frameworks
- Build API, UI, and E2E test suites
- Integrate tests into CI/CD
- Collaborate with developers and product teams
- Execute functional, regression, and performance testing
- Perform root cause analysis
Work Model
This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in New York, NY; Raleigh, NC; Boston, MA; Fort Mill, SC; or Washington, DC.
Required Qualifications
- Java automation experience
- Selenium or/and Playwright
- API testing tools (Rest Assured/Postman)
- SQL & Git
- CI/CD tools
- Agile experience
Desirable Skills
- Performance testing (JMeter)
- Azure knowledge (AZ-900 certification is a plus)
- Docker
- BDD tools (Cucumber)
- Financial domain knowledge
Pay
The annual salary for this position is between $55,000 - $92,500 depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
