Lead Quality Control Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform QC tests (air content, slump/workability, coarseness/sandiness, yield, set time, water-cement ratio, strength)
• Investigate potential quality deficiencies through evaluating available data and observing in-place concrete characteristics and environmental factors
• Determine QC coverage priorities and communicate project specific testing needs with available staff
• Evaluate mix strength performance using key performance indicators to make necessary mix adjustments to maintain adequate overdesign
• Maintain required documentation, certifications and mix data for annual and biannual submittals to CDOT/UDOT and other governing bodies having authority
• Review project specifications and general structural notes to recommend appropriate mix designs for the required applications
• Create Submittals as needed based on those recommendations
• Coverage priorities and communicate project specific testing needs with available staff
• Coordinate trial batching in anticipation of high priority or technical concrete placements
• Depending on need they will spend roughly 50-75% of their time at the batch plant or in the field performing testing and assessing mix designs in their plastic state
• Sample and test raw materials for specification compliance
• Record and communicate test results to dispatch, batch personnel, and customers
• Troubleshoot fresh and hardened concrete to identify quality issues

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree (B.A.) preferred
• A minimum of 1-3 years of QC experience within a construction, industrial, or manufacturing environment
• Good organizational and math skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
