Lead Platform Engineer

About the role

The role of Lead Platform Engineer at Capital One involves deploying, managing, and maintaining virtualization platforms like Amazon Workspaces in AWS. This includes escalating and driving issues related to support of virtualization platforms, leading incident calls, identifying and resolving Windows-based desktop vulnerabilities, and working collaboratively with other IT team members to resolve complex issues and implement improvements.

Responsibilities

• Deployment, management and maintenance of virtualization platform Amazon Workspaces in Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Escalate and drive issues related to support of virtualization platforms
• Join high severity incident calls and lead troubleshooting efforts for a quick recovery
• Identify, diagnose and resolve Windows based desktop vulnerabilities
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and escalate production problems as per operations processes affecting desktop infrastructure
• Work collaboratively with other IT team members to resolve complex issues and implement improvements
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all IT systems and services the team
• Train users on software and promote IT policies and procedures
• Engage in service capacity planning, demand forecasting, and system tuning
• Excellent problem solving, oral, and written communications

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
• At least 6 years of experience using build and deployment tools (Jenkins, GitHub, or Artifactory)
• At least 4 years of experience with AWS
• At least 2 years of team leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with AWS
• 2+ years of experience in Agile practices

Pay

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

• Plano, TX: $149,800 - $171,000 for Lead Platform Engineer
