Lead Pharmacy Technician

About the role

Works under direct supervision of a pharmacist, following standard procedures to accomplish assigned tasks. Oversees the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy department, assisting the supervising pharmacist with staff training, task assignment, and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist the professional staff in triaging, processing, and delivering prescriptions to patients.
• Manage pharmacy inventory and third-party receivables.
• Assist in hiring and training new employees.
• Answer telephones and handle intermediate to advanced pharmacy technology, including product dispensing, data entry, and adjudication workflow steps.
• Perform inventory management tasks, including ordering, receiving, inventory freshness, return to stocks, and cycle counting.
• Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations and company operational policies.
• Execute pharmacy management system tasks, including reception, release to patient queues, and POS system operations.
• Maintain a quality-focused approach, adhering to Quality Assurance Policies and patient care programs.
• Ensure every prescription is checked by a pharmacist prior to dispensing.
• Assist in the initial submission and resubmission of third-party claims.
• Locate prescription files and manual records from storage as needed.
• Prepare and file manual records for pharmacist signatures and review.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Oversee all aspects of pharmacy workflow from data entry to customer pickup.
• Ensure all pharmacy staff provides quality customer service.
• Stay current with all state and federal requirements as well as corporate goals and initiatives.
• Complete all mandatory and regulatory training programs.
• Assist the supervising pharmacist with monitoring and reporting quality assurance events.
• Assist the supervising pharmacist with pharmacy inventory tasks such as returns, outdates, and transmission/receiving of orders.

Requirements

• Minimum: High School Diploma (or currently enrolled) or GED.
• Preferred: Associate’s Degree or higher.
• Required for Vermont employees: Registered with the State of Vermont as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Preferred: Hospital or retail pharmacy experience.

Special Conditions of Employment

• Drug test required.
• Initial and continuous exclusion and sanction/disciplinary monitoring.
• Compliance with any additional eligibility requirements based on the specific position.

Pay

$20.00 - $23.00 an hour. The final offer will be determined after careful consideration of relevant skills, years of experience, and education.
