Job Summary

Aid the professional staff in triaging, processing, and delivering prescriptions to patients. Manage pharmacy inventory and third-party receivables. Assist in hiring and training new employees. Support the pharmacist in inventory management.

Core Competencies

  • Perform duties of a Pharmacy Clerk as needed, including running cash registers and answering phones.
  • Show intermediate to advanced understanding of pharmacy technology, including product dispensing, data entry, and adjudication workflow steps.
  • Be proficient in inventory management, including ordering and receiving processes, inventory freshness, and cycle counting.
  • Comply with all state and federal regulations and company policies and procedures.
  • Execute the pharmacy management system and POS system, follow instructions, and complete tasks with urgency.
  • Ensure every prescription is checked by a pharmacist before dispensing.
  • Submit and resubmit third-party claims, locate prescription files, and prepare and file manual records.
  • Stay current with state and federal requirements and corporate goals and initiatives.
  • Complete mandatory and regulatory training programs.
  • Assist in quality assurance events, inventory tasks, loss prevention, and cycle counts.
  • Communicate with pharmacy staff and relay information from supervisors and upper management.
  • Schedule pharmacy staff to meet payroll and productivity guidelines and monitor PTO usage.
  • Maintain communication lines and assist with MTM and adherence programs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of pharmacy technology.
  • Proficiency in inventory management and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to learn and execute specific aspects of pharmacy management systems and POS systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in cash handling and related controls.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with urgency.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards.
